Being The Text of the First Press Conference held by the Chairman-Elect of National Association of Nigeria Students (OGUN JCC) 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐥𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧 on February 2nd, 2021.

Gentlemen of the press, members of the Ogun State Executive Council, NANS
Cadre and Structures, My Ever gallant NANS Ogun Senators and my fellow
Nigerian Students.

I greet you all in the name of Aluta, Equality, Egalitarianism and Justice for all.

Today, I stand in the office of Chairman-Elect by privilege and by the trust repose in me by Ten legitimate Senators of the Gateway State on Saturday, January 30th, 2020.

Nelson Mandela submit and I agree that "Education is the most powerfiul weapon which you can use to change the world"
Putting into cognisance the all-important nature of Education to the Society, I find it expedient to hit the ground running as the longings of over Two Million and One Students in the Gateway state can neither be denied nor delayed.
Pending the official inauguration of this administration, we find it prudent to kick-start the first of the 3Cs of Aluta which is Consultation on some lingering issues affecting the Student constituency.

Chief among this, is the threat to the safety of Nigerian Students posed by Fulani Herdsmen activities around our campuses. Particularly, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta.
We urge the state government to consider registration of all Herdsmen within the borders of Ogun state, ban open grazing and fastrack the inauguration of the Amotekun Corps in
order to further combat insecurity around our campuses.
In addition, we urge the state government to increase funding for the academic sector in accordance with the UNESCO recommendations.
This increase in funding should specifically be made evident in increase in Subventions for higher institutions in Ogun State.
The need for the State government to increase subventions for the running of activities of State-owned schools so as not for schools to over burden the students with extra charges.
It is important to note that, the government must urgently come to the rescue of the schools who have shut down for over nine months and during which the schools were not having any income. We know that the schools may want to put the burden of running ne
schools on students and we consider this  unacceptable.
Therefore, the government must come to rescue of the schools by releasing more funds for them to enable them run adequately.

Furthermore, we expect that the state government will expedite the process of Bursary payment to indigenous students.
Also, as a matter of urgency review the details collection procedures being implemented.
We find it expedient that NAOSS National body through their chapter Presidents be fully involved in the entire process in order to eliminate any fraudulent act.

We are also using this opportunity to call on the Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho to consult relevant stakeholders in the quest to ensure lasting peace in Yorubaland.
We understand Igboho, but it is our view that he should meet with Yoruba leaders, Afenifere and other stakeholders.
This has become important so as not to set the entire South-West region on fire and cause anarchy.
We observe that, Igboho's strategy if not, reviewed may lead to ethnic or tribal war. We therefore urge him liaise with the appropriate authorities to avoid a major disaster.

In conclusion, we strongly advise politicians and other office holders who are hell bent on causing disarray within the Students Constituency to steer clear or be ready to meet their Waterloo.

Once again, we salute the over Two Million and One Students in the Gateway state and assure them of our best regards.

Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta ✊ ✊
